Las Vegas Raiders punter AJ Cole has solidified his future with the team by signing a four-year, $15.8 million contract extension, making him the highest-paid punter in NFL history. The deal includes $11 million in guaranteed money and extends his existing contract by four years .
Cole, who joined the Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2019, has been a cornerstone of the team’s special teams unit. Over his six-season career with the Raiders, he has appeared in 100 games and averaged 48.6 yards per punt on 374 attempts, with only 30 touchbacks. Notably, he recorded the longest punt of the 2023 season at 83 yards .
In the 2024 season, Cole ranked third in the league with 50.8 yards per punt, fifth with a 43.8-yard net average, and placed 27 of his 67 punts inside the 20-yard line. He also serves as the team’s holder on field goal and PAT attempts .
This extension not only rewards Cole’s consistent performance but also ensures stability in the Raiders’ special teams unit for the foreseeable future.
