Man Dies After Suffering Cardiac Arrest in Anaheim: Authorities Confir
Anaheim, CA — A man who suffered a sudden cardiac arrest in Anaheim has died despite emergency rescue efforts, according to a statement released Thursday by Matt Sutter, a local public safety official, to USA TODAY.
The victim, identified as 33-year-old Graves, went into “full cardiac arrest” before emergency personnel from Anaheim Fire & Rescue arrived on the scene. Sutter said that first responders immediately began life-saving measures as soon as they reached Graves.
Despite the rapid response, Graves was transported to a nearby hospital, where medical teams continued advanced treatment. Tragically, he was pronounced dead approximately one hour after arrival, Sutter confirmed.
Authorities have not released further details on the cause of the cardiac arrest or any preexisting medical conditions Graves may have had. It is also unclear whether the incident occurred in a public or private setting, or whether anyone was with him at the time.
“This is a heartbreaking situation,” said Sutter. “Our first responders did everything they could under extremely difficult circumstances.”
An investigation is ongoing, and the Orange County Coroner’s Office is expected to conduct an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.
Friends, family, and community members are mourning the loss, describing Graves as a kind and energetic individual with a bright future ahead of him.
