The Tennessee Titans have announced plans to acquire All-Pro offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs, a move that could finally bring long-needed stability to the team’s most glaring weakness—the left tackle position.
Despite several offseason efforts to bolster the offensive line, the left tackle spot remains one of the biggest question marks on the roster. Plagued by injuries, inconsistency, and a lack of long-term answers, the Titans have struggled to protect young quarterback Will Levis, leading to stalled drives and missed opportunities throughout the 2024 season.
By pursuing Wirfs, a proven blindside protector formerly with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Titans are signaling their commitment to finally anchor the edge of their offensive front. Wirfs has been widely regarded as one of the league’s premier tackles since being drafted in 2020 and made a successful transition from right to left tackle in recent seasons.
“We’ve evaluated our roster closely this offseason, and left tackle is a spot we simply can’t afford to keep rolling the dice on,” said Titans GM Ran Carthon in a brief statement. “Adding someone of Tristan’s caliber changes everything—not just for our offensive line, but for the entire offense.”
This move could prove crucial for Will Levis, who enters his second full season as the projected starter. With time to throw and a cleaner pocket, Levis may finally have a legitimate chance to prove himself as a franchise quarterback.
