Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan has stirred up speculation around the team’s running back situation after publicly praising New York Giants RB Cam Skattebo, calling him a “hidden gem” and strongly hinting at a possible future signing.

Speaking during a media session following OTA practices, Callahan was asked about potential backfield additions in light of the Titans’ recent offensive restructuring. Without hesitation, he brought up Skattebo — a versatile and hard-nosed runner currently with the Giants — and lit up with enthusiasm.

“I know how to use a guy like Skattebo,” Callahan said. “He’s got something hidden and special — that raw explosiveness, football IQ, and toughness that doesn’t always show up on the stat sheet but wins you games. I’ve had my eye on him for a while.”

The comment immediately raised eyebrows, as Skattebo has shown flashes of brilliance during limited action in New York, but has not yet solidified a consistent role in the Giants’ offense. Known for his physical running style, special teams impact, and underrated pass-catching ability, Skattebo has drawn comparisons to utility-style backs who thrive in creative offensive systems.

Callahan, now entering his second year with the Titans, is overseeing a complete transformation of the team’s offensive identity — one that prioritizes versatility, mismatches, and speed. With the departure of veteran back Derrick Henry and a new scheme built around dual-threat quarterback Cam Ward, the Titans are actively seeking dynamic weapons who can contribute in multiple ways.

“Cam [Skattebo] fits the mold of what we’re building here,” Callahan continued. “He’s a guy who can take hits, make plays in space, and grind out tough yards. Don’t be surprised if you see him in two-tone blue.”

While no official transaction has been made, sources within the Titans organization confirm there have been internal discussions about pursuing Skattebo, should he become available via trade or free agency. With the Giants undergoing their own personnel changes and uncertainty around their running back depth chart, the door may soon open.

Skattebo, a former standout at Arizona State, has built a quiet following in the league for his all-purpose skill set and gritty mentality. Titans fans on social media have already begun buzzing about the potential fit, with many pointing to Callahan’s track record of elevating underutilized talent.

The Titans have made it clear they are not done shaping the 2026 roster — and if Brian Callahan has his way, Cam Skattebo could be the next under-the-radar weapon added to Tennessee’s new-look offense.
